Well - Kevin has been slacking on the posts as of late, so I guess I'll just pick up where he left off.
We've had an eventful July already. I've taken the boys on a few adventures, to the zoo, Calaway, Riley Park, etc. All trying to keep cool in this awesome heat!
This past weekend was a huge deal for me and my family. Mainly a big deal for me because I was in charge of the entire weekend. Organizing activities, meals(groceries), arrangments, etc. I had a blast doing all of this, but it was definately a full weekend and I am glad to say that it is over and that it was a huge succsess. I couldn't have done it without the help of the Calgary people and even help from the relatives from Vegas.
Our activities included: Swimming, Family Dinner #1, BBQ Breakfast, Scavenger Hunt, Chinese Food dinner, Family Dance, Golfing, Cooking "Class", Weiner Roast, Family Dinner #2, Program and Auction, Church, and Family Dinner #3.
We all had such a fun time, and it was so fun to be together as a family. All of the activities turned out really well. The food for the weekend also turned out really yummy! Family is so important to me. My grandparents are awesome. I have been truly blessed to be so close to them. They have a great family! My boys love going to the "Gramma in the tower". I am grateful that my boys have been able to form a special relationship with them. A special moment to my heart is when Grandpa saw Porter for the first time in the NICU, and he told me not to worry, that Porter was going to be just fine. He knew, when I didn't. Grandma Leavitt is an awesome cook and I hope to have her teach me more of her skills and talents in the kitchen. I was also able to compile all of the family favorites that she makes in a cookbook. I was able to find an awesome program that makes "professional" printed copies. I think that the recipe book turned out very well and I am so pleased. Most of all I am excited to have Grandma's great recipes. In fact, I tried her fried cabbage recipe last night for the first time ever. It was so delicious. I never thought that I would be a fan of cabbage! I also hope to learn more about knitting from her too! It can sometimes be hard to get everyone together, but we had a great
turnout and hopefully we can do this again within the next couple of
years. However, I do volunteer anyone else to be in charge next time! Of course, I don't mind helping...
