I think the reason I haven't written in a long time is because we lost the charger for our camera and therefore don't have any new pics to post. It's not like we've lived a boring life lately. It's not like we've lived an incredibly exciting one either.
This week Elise had a follow up surgery on her ear. When she was a teenager she had surgery and this week they removed a plastic mesh thingy that they left in to hold everything together. The doctor thought it was a good idea to remove it, so that's what Elise and I were up to this week. It went smoothly. Recovery time was very short and other than a little sensitivity, everything is pretty much back to normal. One interesting thing did happen that day. While Elise was being admitted, the entire admitting system across Canada went down and Elise ended up getting "surgeried" without being officially admitted. None of the nurses knew how to manually write out admitting forms. It was chaotic that day. Elise was up getting prepped for surgery and I waited down in admitting in case the computers came back up and I could finish off the "questionaire". The nurse had obviously had a bad day because she was pretty rude to me. At one point I calmly asked her to stop being frustrated with me and she blew up and told me that I was the one that was frustrated. I guess it's all a matter of perspective.
This week I bought a Nike+ kit. Basically it's a special chip that you implant into your Nike+ running shoes and it communicates wirelessly with your iPod. As you run it tells you how far you've gone. I've never been a runner before. It practically kills me every time I go out, but I'm really motivated right now so I'm gonna keep going with it. I sound like a smoker too. I cough a lot and have a bit of a raspy sound in my voice. I hope that goes away. My goal it to be able to run 5 km by the end of the summer. I plan on running every day so that I don't get in the habit of skipping days. I just got in from my run now and it's a little after 11pm. I refuse to miss a day!
Mason and Porter continue to be awesome kids. They can wear us out a little, but they are really great. Porter is starting to talk now and he's got quite a personality. His words are definitely unique but if you spend time with him you can eventually figure out what he's saying. He calls me didi. Mason has an impressive vocabulary. I have no idea where he learns half of his sentences. He still has the occasional "Mason Word of the Day." The boys really like playing together. Occasionally Mason will rip something out of Porter's hands or Porter will hit Mason on the head with a truck, but usually they have a great time together. This week we bought them a basketball net. They love it. "Baketaball" is how Porter would say it. He has to carry around a little basket ball in each arm everywhere he goes and he'll kiss every component of the basketball hoop before leaving the room. He may eventually end up being a sports guy.
Oh... and I decided to by myself an XBox 360 last week. I have fun with it but I'm not really good at games. I thought I was kind of good at this race car game called Burnout Revenge, but I bought XBox Live and played online against some people and realized I'm terrible. If you have Burnout Revenge or NHL 07 and XBox Live, look me up some time. My nick is kagedwolf. I'd be happy to lose to you any time.
Well, that's about all for now. I hope to pick up a new camera some time so that I can start taking pictures and having an excuse to write every once in a while. Until next time... Word out.
