As I mentioned a while back, I had attended a trade show (CES) to help people use the software we had written for the show.  It was the first time I had seen anyone use the software we've been working on for the past 3 years.  It was really neat.  We got some positive feedback and I thought I would share.

"It's awesome!  Full venue printing would be ideal.  Would be nice to have a path drawn on the map as well.  I think this is a success."

"Pretty slick.  Wish I had know about the walking map.  Thanks!"

"Great.  Saved my sore feet some extra walking."

"People told me not to go to CES because it is too hard to find things.  I told them 'You haven't seen the new software'.  I like that I can sort by type of company and to be able to find people attending as well.  They are potential clients"

"I wish I had known about the maps."

"Awesome! It's going to make our trip so much easier.  If only it came with a pair of flip-flops."

"This saves time.  You can get organized.  I've been walking around all day, my feet hurt, came here and don't have to waste time anymore.  Neat."

"With new... (click here to read the rest)

It's been a long time since I've written about my garden.  I'm officially calling it "my" garden because I dug it out, roto-tilled it, weeded it, etc.  I built it for Elise who was eager to plant the seeds, but has neglected it pretty bad since then.   So... now it's my garden and I'm gonna take care of it.

I really enjoy working in the garden.  Over the past 2 days I have really cleaned it up.  The weeds were pretty much taking over so even though I have spent a couple of hours out there, I'm still not quite half way done.  Another real downer is that rabbits have pretty much finished off our peas.  I may just pull them out and plant more radishes (they grow fast so they may mature before winter).

I got some rhubarb from my grandpa Gibb which I planted in one of our failed potato places.  I'm surprised that it's growing.  I wasn't expecting anything until next summer, but I think we may have a small crop of it at the end of the growing season.

Warning: The rest of this entry will be very cheesy to some.  Feel free to skip it.

I guess while I'm on the... (click here to read the rest)

I've been spending time in the garden the past couple of days.  I don't know what it is, but I really enjoy it.  I'm still in the "prepare the soil" phase.  I've got most of the big rocks out now and I'm working on the little rocks and clumps of grass.

I think one thing I enjoy about my time in the garden is that it implies the weather is good.  I really like to be out in nice weather.  It's good for the body and mind.  Another thing I like about it is my neighbours usually stop by to chat.  I really like my neighbours, they are good people.

The day before Porter joined us I had made a major overhaul to the code for my website.  There were many known bugs and many more unknown bugs.  I knew about them, I just didn't expect the shortage of time I encountered.  So... I guess what I'm saying is... if you happen to find a bug on my site, please click "contact" in the top menu and drop me a line telling me what you did to get the bug.  This will really help me out.  With the amount of traffic I've been getting lately, I really want things to be working well.

I just figured why my website was running so slowly.  It turns out the mini-calendar and the sql query attached to it was to blame.  Performace should be noticably faster.

I have noticed that since the last time I updated my codebase for my website that it is running slowly.  It's driving me nuts.  I'm sure I'll figure it out, but in the mean time, I guess everyone will have to have patience.

I was asked to put a picture on the Beazer family website.  It was probably taken over 100 years ago, or close to it.  The picture that I got was in bad shape so I touched it up.  I'm impressed with the difference.  See if you can tell which one is the original and which was touched up.  I woudn't ever quit my day job, but I wonder if I could make a couple of bucks doing this kind of thing on the side.

I'm pretty excited about something I'm working on right now.  Its an extention for my blog application.  I've kind of kept it secret so far, but will complete the first version soon so I can reveal it then.  Not that anyone will care, just wanted to write about it.

My blog site is entering the phase of public beta.  I'm pretty much giving away an account to anybody who wants one with only a couple of conditions.
  1. The person has to agree to actually use the site.
  2. The person should give me feed back.  I want to know about bugs.  I want to know about feature request. I want to know how to make the site better.
  3. My goal is eventually to sell this site at a reasonable price.  If someone asks about the site, it would be nice if the person knew they could have a site of their own.

If you are a person who wants a free website and can agree to the conditions above, please contact me.

I'm getting close to releasing version 2 of my website application.  It will actually be version 8 or 9, but it will be version 2 of my latest code base.  It's going to be completely customizable so that different instances of the site can look completely different based on a configuration file.  Its going to be pretty sweet.
